The Carlos Arvelo Municipality is one of the 14 municipalities (municipios) that makes up the Venezuelan state of Carabobo and, according to a 2007 population estimate by the National Institute of Statistics of Venezuela, the municipality has a population of 146,598.[1] The town of Güigüe is the shire town of the Carlos Arvelo Municipality.[2]

This amounts to 6.6% of the state's population.[3] The municipality's population density is 175.57 inhabitants per square kilometre (454.7 /sq mi).[4]
The mayor of the Carlos Arvelo Municipality is Marisol de Castellanos, re-elected on November 23, 2008 with 49% of the vote.[5] The municipality is divided into three parishes; Güigüe, Belén, and Tacarigua.[2]
